@Arthur vdH we have fou d growing saffron very easy. We bought 30 bulbs and the soil for it dug a small deep-ish trench put saffron soil into it an planted the bulbs according to instructions that come with the bulbs. easy peasy lemon squeazy!!!! no need of green fingers 😉😉

Looks interesting, @dcmorris27! I don’t think it would make sense for me to try. I don’t have anything like green fingers at all (rather the opposite). Thanks for the link though!

@Arthur vdH they are a specific crocus that flowers in tge autumn as opposed to spring. When the saffron has been harvested it has to be dried in the oven on a baking tray then placed in an airtight container and kept in the dark for 3 months and only then it can be used in cooking.

Cool! Can you use just any crocus or are there specific varieties for saffron?

Yeah @dcmorris27! That’s damn much work. No wonder what we have to pay for it! Otherwise, your harvest is really praiseworthy! Thumbs up!!!!!

@latif 😀😀 better look into buying a field then and start planting but we have found out why it cost so much all work has to be done by hand.

@Mark Harvey tomorrow we should be able to pick at least 20 crocus' that should be about a 5th of the expected harvest for this year. we started with 30 bulbs and have quadruple in 3 years.
