Oh and make sure you keep all the seeds from the pumpkin 🎃 I’ll show you how to toast them. They make a lovely snack or topping for you curry! If you are prepping your pumpkin early then wash the seeds and remove all the stringy bits. And leave them to dry! #fridaycurryclub

I agree with @ Mathew... they are easy with just a knife to cut the flesh from the outer skin. 🎃

Unless they have really soft skins it's easier to peel pumpkins and other squashes with a big knife, the one you would use to cut it up. When the pumpkin is under a kilo quarter it first, leave the seeds in to help keep it stiff, place it cut surface down and cut thin sections of peel downwards towards the board, then use a spoon to cut the seeds and flesh out of the quarter.

This way its easy to control how deep you peel getting all the skin off without wasting flesh, it's safe, and and it helps make less mess (important if you're naturally messy like me).

Thanks @Arthur vdH for the photo I’ve a similar peeler so that’s great. Sorry you can’t join in but enjoy your farewell party and thank you for your pumpkin tips.

Thank you for the advice and tip about the peeler Arthur. I would not know where to start. I’ve got a peeler so will try that. It looks small but it’s quite heavy. Are you cooking tomorrow @Arthur vdH

@traceyross I started out with one of about 850g and after peeling and deseeding I was left with a fat 600g. I do use a peeler that removes very little of the flesh beneath the skin, but I don’t think you’ll be chopping off huge chunks for peeling, will you?

I’ve never used pumpkin before and just bought one it weighs 900g hope it’s an okay weight? I don’t know how much waste there will be. I can always buy another.
