Hey #Hari'sCurryCrew what do you think about Superfoods? In the Evening Standard last night they were taking about the big 4 Superfoods for this year and Ghee was listed as number two! We have talked about Ghee on a number of occasions but I would love to know what your personal thoughts are about using it.
Has anyone tried any of these - what are your thoughts?

I’m surprised coconut oil isn’t up there alongside Ghee if I’m honest. I chose to use Ghee depending on the dish just like I do every other time I use oil. The type for me has to depend on how hot I’m cooking and the smoking point if there is going to be very hot pan/oven. Using an oil that can cope with the heat before becoming rancid is important and that’s when both Ghee and coconut oil are great.

I’ve only used ghee I do like the taste especially in red lentil dhal.

I meant vegetable ghee for everything else. Not even had a drink yet! 😀

I use butter ghee for chicken dishes, and butter ghee for everything else. No reason, just our personal taste.

kelp is indeed a good food, but we need to harvest responsibly. I worry when something gets labelled a "super food" that we humans get greedy.

I get the idea of Kelp I think it’s a great product - I think we will see a lot more products from the ocean coming into mainstream too.

I have mixed feelings about ghee. I think it adds a unique superior flavour but do question whether it’s the most healthy option. I remember as a kid, helping my mum making our own ghee with 2 pound bricks of butter. 🤣

I even made my own ghee from butter a couple of times! And seaweed: I’ve used that in Japanese recipes. I also like glasswort to go with seafood.
