Tbh I’ve got an old one my mum gave me. It’s marked etc and I just wash it by hand and it’s absolutely great. Don’t really do anything special . Occasionally needs a bit of elbow grease. I much prefer cooking in it rather than a non-stick but it does get hot quickly so you have to keep an eye on it

Well @ken.macritchie , if you say that to her I reckon your pans will develop dents and scratches. And your head too, I suppose :-)
But, seriously, wash all pans by hand. They’ll thank you for it.

@Arthur vdH Yesss !! lesson learned, I'll have to get my aluminium cleaner out & see what I can do 🙄 @Jo dunn that's why I bought a dishwasher because the one I married had a fault as it missed bits and bobs when cleaning the dishes 🤣🤣🤣

@ken.macritchie Noooo!!! You didn’t? Dishwasher detergents are just about the most aggressive stuffs you can find. No wonder it kills the luster :-(

Yes @ken.macritchie : put it on a flame, and put ingredients in :-) But as @Jo dunn says: oiling the entire inner surface is a good idea. Only I would use kitchen roll to coat it all, heat it quite well, let it cool, wash it and then start using it.

Oil it! Put a bit of oil in, swish all over with kitchen roll! 😊💕
