Good Evening everybody, after a long time I am cooking again.
I made a Tomatar gosht using mutton.
Halfway through I cut my finger👎, so ANDREA had to take over.
The pickle, she made using chilli, carrot, onion and a pear shaped veg.🤣
I converted the recipe for a slow cooker...... fantastic, the mutton was so tender and tasty.
A very enjoyable meal. 🍷🍽

Hi @stripeybag! @Jo dunn I was not very often on the app these days, but I happened to see your post this morning. Your pear-shaped vegetable is really called chouchou in Mauritius. It belongs to the gourd family. You certainly liked it because you’re a great fan of gourd vegetables😂! In France, they call it chayote, and in the French West Indies, Martinique and Guadeloupe, they call it christophine. Peeled, boiled and cut in slices, they make a wonderful summer salad with a good vinaigrette. Hope you like it!

Thank you @stripeybag. You do find the greatest and strangest vegetables ! I looked it up and it has a fair few names, a 'chayote squash' seemed to be the U.S. favourite name.

@latif might know this one,?, as a few recipes were from Mauritius.

Hi @Jo dunn, the pear shaped veg was a Chou chou, I think that’s how it’s spelt. 😎
