Not a silly question at all. Don’t wrap it, just place foil on top and press it close.

The bottom of the joint will receive less heat than the top because the roasting tray shields it. By using the foil you give the bottom a head start. If you didn’t, it would be very hard to get the bottom cooked properly without burning the top.

But @Hari Ghotra, when you say to cover the joint with foil before roasting, does that mean wrap foil all around it, or just bung a sheet of foil on top? Sorry if sound a bit gormless
