Help @Hari Ghotra . Got your slow cooker recipe book for Christmas and decided to try a dish today. Replaced the lamb for beef. However, it was only when I got back I realised the 1.5kg of lamb included the bone! I am currently marinating 1.5kg of beef. How should I adapt ingredient potions to fit? I know you are super busy but 🙏🏼

Hi @day_kate don’t panic - as @Arthur vdH suggests just go up by half and it will be fine. Which dish are you doing?

Hmm … that is surprising. I see Nigella Lawson’s site has the same ratio: 3 pounds of meat in a 3.5 pound leg. I was thinking of the bone-in stewing cuts that I get. I wouldn’t have expected the difference to be this large.

Thanks @arthur vdH I looked on the internet and a Delia recipe reckons that out of a 1.75kg leg of lamb, 1.5 kg is meat! So the bone is only about 14%. Until then I was thinking the same as you. Cheers

@day_kate I figure the bone would be about half the weight of the lamb, so you’re making essentially double the amount of the original recipe. What I would do is increase the spices by half and double all other ingredients.

Another option would be to freeze half the beef and use that another time :-)
