When a recipe calls for a green chili what kind of pepper is that? I can only find Jalapenos.

Hi @kellysals I’ve found the long green chillies that are sold at my local Indian grocery store the best. The short green chillis are too hot so avoid them. I could not find anything suitable in my grocery store other than jalapeños or Mexican peppers. I am based in the USA.

As @Arthur vdH says, jalepenos just don’t give a real heat. I’ve used many supermarket ‘green chillis’, some aren’t hot and others blow your head off 😂. Try and taste the normal green chillis first before you use them, remember the hottest part is at the stalk and coolest at the top 👍

See if you can find bird’s eye chilli or Thai chilli @kellysals. Jalapeños are not nearly as hot.
